Fifty Shades of Grey: Book One of the Fifty Shades Trilogy

Fifty Shades of Grey - E.L. James When I first heard about this book, I was beyond excited. I admit that I'm a Twi-Fiction lover...... BUT while I was intrigued in the beginning that enthusiasm was gone pretty fast. I read all three books in rapid succession because I can't just stop in the middle and yet the more I thought about it, the more flaws I found.Starting with the characters: yes, there's a twilight theme going - I don't mind that terribly much but there's no real depth to the characters, nor a significant development in the personalities displayed.Sex: the vanilla sex descriptions get very boring, very fast. They more or less repeat the same damn thing throughout all three books.BDSM: by her own admission, the author doesn't know/isn't involved in BDSM and it shows. The BDSM is pretty tame and if you are at least a little knowledgeable, the flaws are easily found. Christian perceives himself as a devious monster and in reality this books is more about Christian's psychological problems than about BDSM. And by the way, what the fuck was that after her first spanking? "Here's some salve. You okay?" - "Yes." - "Okay, Bye. And in the future never question me again."Sheesh, in this case it's true what they say: Write what you know about, otherwise you might set yourself up for a disaster.Last but not least, the language: a book doesn't need to be a literary masterpiece to be a good, successful book. However, my mothertongue isn't English and if I read the English version and find mistakes then I wonder how a native speaker didn't notice them. Yes mistakes happen, but shouldn't be happening in this magnitude.
